This battery-free lantern can generate electricity by connecting to USB or turning the crank handle on the top. The stored electricity can be charged to a smartphone, making it useful in emergencies. The light can be dimmed in two levels: high and low. The main unit can be charged manually by turning the handle of the main unit, or from a PC or other device by connecting it to the main unit with a USB cable. No dry cell batteries are required.
It can be used in times of disaster or when it is difficult to secure a power source, using a hand-wound power storage. It is a good idea to have one of these as a disaster prevention item. Approximate time for using the hand-cranked storage battery: 1 minute of hand-cranked storage → (approx.) 10 to 14 minutes on high, 1 hour on low. The brightness will gradually decrease.
